Illustrative portfolio examples

We work with companies across industries — the three examples below are illustrative case studies that show how a Farag & Co. engagement typically runs, from the first conversation through the operating work itself. They're composites built to demonstrate our model, not a complete client list.

Meridian Freight Systems

Regional freight coordination software for mid-market carriers managing 50–500 trucks.

Challenge

Meridian's dispatch team ran on spreadsheets and phone calls. Dispatchers spent most of a shift manually matching loads to trucks, and a high empty-mile ratio was eating into margin on every route.

Approach

Our software team built a dispatch and load-matching platform in-house, working alongside Meridian's ops leadership from week one. Our design team built the dispatcher interface around actual shift workflows instead of a generic TMS template. Our capital allocation team funded the first 18 months of engineering before Meridian's own revenue covered it.

Result

Empty-mile ratio dropped from 34% to 21% in the first year. Dispatcher headcount held flat while load volume grew 2.4×. Meridian reached operating profitability five months ahead of its original plan.

Caldera Health Partners

Revenue-cycle and scheduling operations software for multi-location outpatient clinics.

Challenge

Caldera's clinics were losing an estimated 12% of billable revenue to claim denials and scheduling gaps, and its founder — a physician, not an operator — was doing both jobs at once.

Approach

Our business management team built the operating rhythm — weekly metrics review, a denial-management workflow — before writing a line of code. Our engineering team then built the scheduling and claims-tracking system underneath it. Our executive advisory team worked directly with the founder on hiring her first COO.

Result

Claim denial rate fell from 12.3% to 4.1% within nine months. Clinic-level scheduling gaps (no-shows plus unfilled slots) dropped 38%. Caldera opened two additional clinic locations using the same operating playbook, with net new revenue up 61% year-over-year.

Abstract stacked ledger-line graphic

Ledgerline

Embedded ledger and payments infrastructure for vertical SaaS platforms.

Challenge

Ledgerline's founding team had strong engineering but no experience navigating money-transmission compliance, and struggled to raise a seed round from investors who understood the regulatory surface.

Approach

Our legal team structured Ledgerline's compliance program and money-transmitter licensing strategy from week one. Our capital allocation team led its seed round and helped assemble the remaining syndicate. Our marketing team built the developer-facing positioning and documentation site that became Ledgerline's primary source of new sign-ups.

Result

Ledgerline closed its seed round in 7 weeks against an original 4-month target. Developer sign-ups grew from 40 to over 1,200 in the two quarters after the new positioning shipped. Zero findings in its first compliance licensing audit.

Building something, or backing something?

Either way, we'd like to hear about it.
